About the Brothers

LOREN BARRIGAR

It is rumored that Loren Barrigar was born with a guitar in his hands. His mother will not confirm or deny.

At the age of 4, Loren stunned his parents by picking up his father's guitar and announcing he wanted to play "In the Mood" with his dad. His dad humored him until Loren explained to his dad that he could take either the rhythm part or the lead, whichever he preferred.

Guitar lessons were quickly arranged and 2 years later Loren played the Chet Atkins hit "Yakety Axe" for thousands of country fans at the Grand Ole Opry, in Nashville, Tennessee, the youngest guitarist to appear on that stage.

During his childhood in Nashville, Loren studied wth Jimmy Atkins, Chet Atkins older brother, a long time member of the Les Paul Trio.

A touring career followed shortly after, with Loren, his brother and father appearing in Nashville, Las Vegas, and venues along the way, with George Morgan and other country stars.

Since settling in Central New York, Loren has been very involved with studio recording, as well as performing continuously with bands in the region.

Loren has worked on his writng skills. His work has been broadcast on the TV series "ER", and was recorded on a Christmas compilation CD with BB King and Patti LaBelle.

As co-founder of the Guitar League, in Central NY, Loren has helped to produce a popular concert series featuring world class performances by guitarists Tommy Emmanuel and John Knowles, both awarded the Certified Guitar Player by Chet Atkins, Stephen Bennett, Laurence Juber and National Fingerstyle Champion Bob Evans. Loren has performed duets with these guitarists to standing ovations.

Loren is currently writing and recording two record projects, a solo CD, and a Barrigar Brothers CD with his brother Kevin.
